Our Southeastern District, LCMS hosted a webinar on February 19, 2025 on the topic of the history of Black Lutheranism in the Southeastern District. For those who were unable to attend the event live, the District has made the link for the video available.
In this webinar, explore the rich history of Black Lutheranism in the Southeastern District, tracing pivotal moments from the establishment of Immanuel Lutheran College in 1903 through the present day. While providing context through broader Black Lutheran history in America, we’ll examine the unique institutions, leaders, and communities that have shaped our district’s faith journey and continue to influence our shared ministry today. The speaker is Warren Lattimore, a Th.D. student at Duke Divinity School, currently serving as the vacancy pastor of Grace Lutheran Church in Greensboro, NC, the mother church of Immanuel Lutheran College.
